  1. Salam aleyka ustadh,

Jazak Allahu khayran. I found the English translation of the poem but do you haven any idea where one can find the original in Arabic? In which book is this collected? Do you have in ijazah in this text as well?

    Take care wa salam,

    • Wa’Alykoum As’Salam Wa Rahmatullah Sidi Harun,

I got the Arabic text when I studied it with my teacher. I’m not really sure which book you can find it in though. But I’m actually planning to put it together in a book with an introduction and commentary and it will be under the guidance of Dr. Umar Faruq And-Allah (I studied it with him).

      Barak Allah feek.

      • Jazak Allahu khayran for the answer sidi Mohammed. Masha’Allah! I’m looking forward to it insha’Allah. I made a draft Dutch translation of the poem and will work on it. I have the Arabic text as well alhamdulillah. Could you tell your teacher he really needs to come and visit the Netherlands and teach us please? We are in dire need of teachers of his calibre. These events like the Rihlah are unaffordable for many people here and we already have very limited access to traditional Sunni ‘ulama.

  2. Salam again sidi,

I have not listened yet to the lectures so may be the answer to my question is there, but is there a sharh available of this short text?

    Take care wa salam,

    your brother Harun

    • Wa’alykoum As’salam sidi,

I’m not aware of any commentaries on it. Although I did study it with Dr. Umar, my recorded lectures are not solely based on my study with him. For the past few years I’ve studied other texts with other scholars and continue to do so, in addition to studying philosophy and theology. I chose to teach this text because it’s the simplest one, but my lectures are not a replica of the recordings of Dr. Umar from Rihla. Those 3 lectures I’ve got up so far are all introduction that deal with several issues, most important of which is the difference between Salafis and Ash’aris and specifically what Imam Ibn Taymiyyah was trying to do in dealing with a problem in philosophy that has theological implications. I’ll continue building upon it as I continue with these lectures insha’Allah and will add to it discussions on atheism and post-modern materialism that also has implications on religion.
